Bio / History

At the present time I am a solo artist. But the rock-n-roll power trio is my thing, or thang, as some would say. Give me a great drummer and a solid bass player and I am in hog-heaven. But situations do not always allow one to do what one wants to do. So for now, I fly solo. Everybody who knows me says that I swing to the beat of a different drum. Maybe so, I don't really know. But, I do my best to try to create original songs that really are original and that have my own personal stamp on them. Whether I'm playing electric guitar or acoustic guitar, I always try to do things a little outside of what's generally out there musically. I also try to inject as much of myself into any cover song that I do. Listen to my version of Jimi Hendrix's classic, "Voodoo Child", to get a sense of what I mean. I am an old-head/new-head guitar player. When it comes to my musical sound, I am analog to the bone. I can never plug my Stratocaster into a modern, latency-prone, digital all-in-one multi-effect pedalboard, and be truly happy. And I run away screaming from all the pedals and amps with DSP modeling circuitry. I design my own special effects pedals, and I modify all my store-bought analog special effect pedals, such as the mighty CryBaby Wah and Fuzzface, to suit my taste. A long time ago I went to electronic trade school to learn electronics in order to have a technical career. Over the past decade I've used the knowledge gained to build the perfect multi-effects stompbox for myself. It took hundreds of hours of book reading, circuit prototyping, testing and troubleshooting, and serious listening drills; but the payoff is that I got extremely good at being the primary architect of my musical sound. Welcome to my slightly off-center world!!

Hey Paul, hope you are well my friend. I just got the time to get over here to listen to your new tunes. Nice job on both. It is so sad that they don't play music like this on the radio anymore. Thank goodness for the jam, or I would be missing out on these very cool tunes. Man, I really enjoyed the listen, great job. Mike G

Congratulations on "Come & go Babe" # 1 spot, good job on a Awesome song !! since you admire & are inspired by Jimi like myself thought I'd share another cool experience with you. In the 80's I opened for Randy Hansen a few times when he performed in San Jose, a local radio station said Randy & Mitch Mitchell were gonna be at K&K music store. I went on down there, so they said we're gonna jam who plays bass. So I gotta jam with Mitch, I never thought I'd get to do that. that was cool 4 real. Any way keep making your music I love it !!

Funny you mentioned Mandrill when I was 14 our band played a couple of their songs, when I was 19 my Hustler/ Manager from L.A. got me an audition with them. Some of them were super cool a couple of them wouldn't talk to me, like F that punk kid that thinks he's Jimi Hendrix I was in the studio with them hanging out for week. A couple of pretty ladies were there one nite asking me about the music, I'm getting looks like he aint even in the group. They dismissed me said I was to acid funk. they were right.

Come and Go Babe is another great study af acoustic blues. The timings that you use are like triple time and you make it work. Also glad to hear it is an original. Take care Paul, Richard

Love that acoustic blues sound of Come and Go Baby. Hope you didn't have to sell your soul to the devil to get that sound a la Robert Johnson. Ha ha. Great tune, Paul.
