Johnny has been compared to such varied artists as Bob Dylan meets Leonard Cohen, Paul McCartney meets Andy Kaufman, a young Robert Smith (The Cure), and the infamous Danny Michel. The initial catalyst for Johnny was growing up next to the birthplace of Motown, and a second catalyst came in the form of a journey which brought him to his new home in Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1999. This combination of urban and prairie living forms the basis of Johnny's words and music.
Johnny's debut album "Discoverers", released in the fall of 2006, is a collection of eight simple love songs that flirt with the themes of travel, leaving, and finding home. Innocent and even delicate, yet undeniably relevant, "Discoverers" is an ode to the things that matter most.
The heart is truly laid bare in this unforgettable debut album, which takes us on a quest for hope in love, in life, and in loss. With no pretenses remaining, all that stands here is a beautiful portrayal of one man's discovery of truth and meaning in everyday existence: "Maybe it's just that we are together, baby, which propels us towards forever." |
