Exitwound ~~ The Native Axeman's Music

Bio / History

EXITWOUND Thanks for checking out my BIO. I’m Paul “The Toadster” Underwood, creator of the group Exitwound. I’m a 44 year old Northern Cheyenne solo artist. I live in Billings Montana where EXITWOUND originated back in 2002. This is Metal at its finest to some. “Cool Trans Metal” as I perceive it. Exitwound is more than a name; it is a statement of sorts and reflects the scar filled journey one embarks on called life. Forging a path through obstacles thrown on the path of light Exitwound has become a sanctuary as I utilized this medium to tell life's story through music. For my efforts I’ve received two nominations at the Native American Music Awards; 1. Debut Artist 2. Best Instrumental Recordings. And I was one of the presenters for: Best Blues Recording. Contemporary Metal inspired from the multidimensional expanse where spirit resides, Exitwound is journey that crosses all boundaries and cultures. The theorem that music heals is all too apparent within the music I produce. I attribute my remarkable talent to the Creator and celibate in song. The music is composed from deep within my soul and inspired by my visions. They tell the story of life from all the quarters I have traveled, some good, some bad. Truly Metal, Exitwound is the rumbling storm from the other side and I am the messenger. With the 2008 Native American Music Awards in my sights I have a new CD, “After The Storm”. And of course, your support is very welcome indeed. Enjoy my tunes at; www.myspace.com/exitwoundone And the site for the Native American Music Awards: www.nammys.com Peace, Paul "The Toadster" Underwood Whispering Wind Magazine 3/27/07 Audio Review: by Gene M. Bates 'The Axeman Cometh': Exit Wound Category: Contemporary Blues/ Rock - Instrumental Independent Release http://www.myspace.com/exitwoundone Audio CD/ Copyright 2006 Sounding like a cross between Jimi Hendrix, Micky Free and Robin Trower, Exit Wound's (a.k.a. Paul Underwood (Northern Cheyenne) latest effort is an instrumental tour-de-force! A magical mixture stunning guitar work and studio wizardry, The Axeman Cometh's fifteen fantastic tracks will leave you breathless. The compositions are as well-crafted as the production values, and the guitar playing is some of the best this reviewer has heard since Indigenous' Mato Nanji broke on the scene five years ago. If you like, 'guitar CD's' and hark rock instrumental music, this, 'cool trance metal' (I'm quoting Paul) is right up your alley! Best moments on the CD are the anthem-esque ,"Sacred Smoke", the title cut, "The Native Axeman Cometh" and a marvelously ethereal, "Delusions of Paradise". Great Stuff! Absolutely the best instrumental CD I've heard this year, "The Axeman Cometh" is, 'NAMMY worthy'! http://cdbaby.com/cd/exitwound and Whispering Wind Magazine 5/15/07 Audio Review: by Gene M. Bates 'After the Storm': Exitwound Catagory: Contemporary Blues/ Rock - Instrumental Independent Release http://www.myspace.com/exitwoundone Audio CD/ Copyright 2007 Exitwound's (a.k.a. Paul Underwood) follow-up to his, "The Axeman Cometh" is pure listening pleasure. This Northern Cheyenne's marvelous sense of melody and composition continues to evolve and mature with every release. A bountiful blend of hard rock guitar, studio effects and potent production, Underwood's music is without-a-doubt some of the best instrumental music to come out of, 'Indian Country' in a long time. If you like instrumental music, and you like great guitar work, you need to give this guy a listen -'cause he's the, 'real deal'!' http://cdbaby.com/cd/exitwoundmusic

For Immediate Release:

July 29, 2009 (Pulaski, NY)- Spirit Wind Records announces the signing
of  Paul Underwood Sr. AKA The Native Axeman.

Paul Underwood, referred by some as the next Robin Trower & Stevie Ray
Vaughn, he is a Native American (Northern Cheyenne)

high-powered blues & rock guitarist, and songwriter who takes command of
the stage with his ferocious fret work and hard driving sounds. Hailing
from Billings MT, he is regarded by many as one of the most talented
blues-rock guitarists in the Native world today. He has become a force
to be reckoned with and has generated a strong fan base in and around
the United States. Paul has recorded 8 CDs to date. Two of which were
nominated to the Native American Music Awards.

We're very much looking forward to a long term relationship with Paul.

It's great when a record company is not only excited about an artist but
has committed to realizing a shared vision.  We're hopeful that this is
just the beginning of a mutually beneficial relationship.  We're looking
forward to the ride."

"THE NATIVE AXEMAN"

Creator of
 EXITWOUND

About Exitwound

"Sometimes life events have a way of changing people."

In 2002 that is what happened to
Paul Underwood, creator of EXITWOUND.
Standing at a cross road in his life he
realized the gift he was born with
and the potential of using it.

The changes he made in his life and with the
creation of his music brought about many changes
for him both personally and professionally.

The music of EXITWOUND is filled with raw emotion
which evolved during the healing of old wounds for Paul.

 His music is called

“Cool Trance Metal”
which many  have compared to

Hendrix

Stevie Ray Vaughn

Robin Trower

and

Micki Free

yet has set a standard even beyond them
and the world of heavy metalhas began taking notice.

His first album release

“The Native Axeman Cometh”

in 2006 was a huge hit when released.

It was submitted for
 “Debut Artist of the Year”
, “Best Instrumental Recording”
“Best Rock Recording”
“Best Producer”
“Record of the Year”
 “Song of the Year”
for Looking through the Eagle Eyes,
 and
“Songwriter of the Year”
for The Native Axeman Cometh;
and officially nominated in two of the categories
by the Native American Music Awards. His most r
ecent album
 “After the Storm”

like his first has steadily been gaining attention
within the music industry, fans and other musicians.

He is currently exploring the possibility of recruiting
other musicians for a small 2009 tour to coincide with
the release of some new music. We expect
EXITWOUND
will break out within “mainstream” America
at any time and it will be a
refreshing welcome to the
heavy metal world
